Kristin Robinson

Senior Writer

As a senior writer at Billboard, Kristin covers music publishing and technology, with particular expertise in artificial intelligence. Recently, she launched the Billboard newsletter Machine Learnings, continuing her coverage of AI’s rapid impact on the music industry. In 2023, Kristin was named a finalist for the National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Award for her investigation of a $23 million YouTube royalty fraud case. In 2024, she was a finalist for the Los Angeles Press Club Southern California Journalism Awards for her feature on hip-hop writer-producer Mike Dean. When she’s not writing about the intersection of music business and tech, Kristin also writes cover stories and profiles for the publication. These include covers on Charli XCX’s brat summer, Mustard’s role in Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Laufey’s domination of jazz/pop and Ghostwriter’s creation of the AI-generated song “Heart on My Sleeve” featuring “Fake Drake.” Kristin graduated from the University of Southern California’s music industry program in 2020.
